Song Premiere: 'Lonesome In New York' by The Blu Skies

Four years after the release of the band's debut album, “Ghost of Design," The Blu Skies are looking forward to releasing the follow-up. The yet-to-be-titled sophomore LP is set to be released "mid-way through 2017," according to frontman Matt McGibany.

It will be recorded with engineer/producer Brenan Struif at Lighthouse Sounds in Alton, Illinois.

The band has seen some personnel changes since its 2013 debut album, adding John Perotka on drums and Justin Level on keys. They join bassist Jerrod Gordon, guitarist Phil Waits and McGibany.

Gordon and Waits, who’ve been with the band since the beginning, commented on The Blu Skies' progress via email.

"As for the next phase, I'm all for diving back in,” Gordon said.

Waits agrees, saying that he’s “very excited for our next chapter and excited to see what happens in our near future.”

The band is planning on a run of new shows to debut the new material.

But fans won't have to wait until then to listen to the newest single from the Americana act. Exclusively on SoundWordsSTL.com, listen to "Lonesome New York," from the upcoming album by clicking here.
